Cece’s Speakeasy

GOBS Collective joined forces with Apples and Snakes at New Art Exchange, Nottingham, for Cece's Satellite Speakeasy: Midlands, an immersive evening of poetry, film, music and creative activism exploring the climate emergency.

Set in an imagined future where coffee and chocolate had become scarce luxuries, Cece's Speakeasy invited audiences to consider the impact of climate change, environmental injustice and the choices we can make to shape a different future.

GOBS Collective poets delivered live spoken word performances alongside a programme of original poetry films by Midlands-based artist activists. The evening also featured live music from Ingrid McLaren, a guest contribution from Windmill Community Gardens, and opportunities for audiences to engage with environmental themes through art and conversation.

The event celebrated poetry as a powerful tool for raising awareness, inspiring action and bringing communities together around some of the most pressing challenges of our time.
